A partnership with the Victoria and Albert Museum saw waste materials from the museum being used to teach residents to make benches and tables

The V&A Museum and Every One Every Day teamed up to work with local people in Barking & Dagenham to create beautiful products from leftover exhibition materials that would otherwise become waste, creating partnerships that are positive for the planet and opportunities close to home.

20 residents from the borough of Barking and Dagenham attended The Discovery Day, where they learned how to make clothing hooks from scrap shipping crates. From there, Re: works participants attended the Warehouse twice a week, learning how to work with different tools and materials, developing their skills in measuring, cutting, drilling, sanding, and finishing, creating a range of products for sale made almost entirely from waste material.
