Foundational Research

The design for Every One Every Day emerged from a decade of prior research into the nature and benefits of peer-to-peer participation projects and the conditions which make it possible for them to emerge and flourish in neighbourhoods.

The conclusions from this research are set out in the two publications available here

The Illustrated Guide

The Illustrated Guide is intended as an accompanying publication to Designed to Scale.

It is an introduction to how participation systems work at scale, and how they act to combat many serious and interconnected social problems.

The style is deliberately informal in order to communicate complex ideas simply and succinctly.

Design to Scale - Open Works

The Open Works research project in Norwood, London tested whether a platform approach could scale up a new type of ‘participation culture’.

It aimed to discover whether a large amounts of small-scale participation activity, if built into the fabric of everyday life, could accumulate to long-term change for individuals and neighbourhoods.
