Fabric Lab

Fabric Lab was a fabric studio that opened in the Heathway Shopping Centre

Residents of Barking and Dagenham came together to collaborate on exciting projects and helped to make the neighborhood a more connected and sustainable place to live.

There were opportunities to learn expert skills, including sewing, pattern cutting, embroidery, and more. All levels of skills were encouraged to get involved, from those who had never used a sewing machine to skilled makers who could share their skills with the community. Participants learned about zero-waste patterns, using deadstock fabric, and upcycling old clothes and textiles to make something new and unique.
