Glowing Greens
New ways of producing food
Hydroponics is the name of a futuristic way of growing plants without soil. It’s a clever system, using LED lights and special growing equipment that allows plants to grow all year round and with more nutrients than traditional farming.
It’s taking off in cities because it can be done anywhere. Imagine a mini farm in your basement or a herb garden under the stairs!
Glowing Greens sessions were all about learning how to use the hydroponic towers, and seeing what we could grow together to create food for the future. People were encouraged to bring some seeds that they would like to grow and test what is possible. Hydroponic systems were set up across all of the neighbourhood shops, and local hubs. They were frequently harvested by local people who would walk past.
